Beautiful Flowers By Proper Maintaince and Care

Seed Saving Tips & Techniques

After a long winter there is nothing more lovely than a spring garden with decorative garden decor (glass gazing balls are a great addition). That spring bloom can be much more beautiful by following this easy tip.

In the fall plant your bulbs and ground phlox first. You
should also put some flower bulb fertilizers into each hole as you plant the bulbs-and watch to
how far into the ground it is recommended that you go for planting. I recommend planting in groups, odd numbers are best,
scattered about so that that other shrubs will hide their foliage as the garden bulbs begin to
wither. When they are just planted willy nilly here and there they tend to make a nice
home garden look like it doesen’t belong
.

In the spring after your daffodils and tulips have all bloomed it is important to not cut
back the foliage
. Considered unattractive by lots of people this cutting out can only hinder the new garden flower bulbs from
giving you that look you are after when it comes spring time. Wait until it turns yellow and then it should pull out or cut off easily
enough. Truthfully, if you cannot pull it out of the dirt then it is pointless to try and cut
away or removed. All of the leaves will be producing food for the following year’s blooms. Do your self a favor and
forget about them til they have totally turned.

It is also a good idea to put down some bulb fertilizer in the fall and spring over the areas where you have them planted. Doing this usually keeps your flower bulbs plentiful from year-to-year. Daffodils are a good bulb choice as deer and squirrels seem fairly uninterested in them and
they slowly multiply year after year.

If you haven’t already noticed also, tulips can be a hear-breaker!

You could see that within a couple seasons your bulbs tend cease blooming. Plus, the squirrels like to steal the bulbs and even the deer eat them – they simply disappear.

Yes, grape hyacinth and scilla are both know to be lovely small purplish flower bulbs, but they can spread to the
point of becoming a nuisance in your landscape…and, as you can probably guess, you’ll want to keep this in your memory when introducing them. Be sure to have some recycled glass gazing balls and other decorative garden decor too!

Rule of thumb number one is to start the spring garden in the fall…just another reason why planning ahead is a big part of gardening.
